Some of Sausalito’s Finest Organizations, Foundations, and Clubs
While there are many wonderful things about Sausalito, Ca, the fine organizations, foundations, and clubs rank high. Locals can choose where to keep their boat and memberships interested in joining. For instance, in Sausalito, the Presidio Yachts Club is a great organization that has been in existence 50 years. Located on Horseshoe Cove, the club provides 70 berths, guest docks, a clubhouse, and even maintenance facilities. Members enjoy sailing, power cruising, and yacht racing. Under the 60th Services Squadron, membership is open to anyone who is active, reserve, or retired military, as well as national park and federal employees, and Coast Guard auxiliary members.

Sausalito Cruising Club events are exciting with this club founded more than 60 years ago. The facility used is an old World War II ammunition barged that has been completely refurbished. Today, the barge is docked at Dunphy Park, only minutes from the downtown area of Sausalito. Events are open to members and their guests and with more than 450 active members, something is always going on.

There is even a Sausalito Women’s Club formed specifically for women who love yachting and boating and the Sausalito Yacht Club has a great reputation throughout the entire state for being among the finest. In addition to boating and racing, a full calendar of events can also be viewed on the website here. Some of the events include Lion’s Club dinners, annual bullship racing, private member events, silent auctions, and more.

The Sausalito Yacht Club was originally founded by seven individuals in December of 1942. When World War II took many of the local boat owners to war, boats were left in the care of the club’s members, the oldest being only 17 years of age. The club withstood the test of time, becoming a highly professional organization that went on to host the United States Junior Women’s Singlehanded Championship in 1991 and the Challenge Series of IA in 2003, among others.

Although there are many different organizations, foundations, and clubs for biking, walking, and various activities, boating and yachting sits at the top of the list. After all, Sausalito, California is adjacent to the San Francisco Bay, making this the ideal location for yacht and boat races, as well as events.
