Downtown Sausalito is well known throughout the Bay Area as one of the highest concentrated areas for art galleries. Featuring works from world renowned artists to local artists, the galleries showcase an enormous variety of works that span almost every imaginable discipline and style. Whether you are looking for naturalistic or realistic classical paintings, or more modern and avant-garde pieces, you will find many different purveyors who will have pieces to interest you in the downtown area.

 

Caledonia Street Artists

Just off the main street by the waterfront lies Caledonia Street, arguably Sausalito’s true downtown area. Frequented by locals and those in the know about Sausalito, there are several art studios and galleries open to the public in this area of Sausalito that have works that are distinctly different than those offered downtown. Stop in and visit with the artists themselves in some cases, or view the works in a quieter and more relaxed setting. Northern Sausalito Artworks

As is true of restaurants and culture in Sausalito, not all of the artists and galleries reside in the two downtown areas of the city. There are many fine art galleries, and even more working studios, in the northern section just outside of the downtown areas than you might imagine. Aside from the options in storefront galleries on the north end of town, the ICB building is located in this section of Sausalito. Featuring spaces for many working artists, and open to the public occasionally for Open Studios, the collection of artists housed at the ICB building is eclectic and spans many interests.
