In this day-long retreat we will explore the integration of yoga practice and Zen meditation, and experience how the body and mind can work together to achieve clarity, stability and relaxation. As long-time practitioners of both yoga and Zen Buddhism, Samantha and Robert integrate yoga and Zen as complementary spiritual practices, supporting and guiding the group with a combination of yoga poses, sitting and walking meditation, and lively dharma discussion.
The yoga practice will prepare your body and mind for meditation posture, and is for all levels of ability. No previous meditation or Buddhist experience necessary-beginners are welcome!
Please bring a yoga sticky mat and a thick bath towel. Lunch is included.

Do-An Robert Thomas
Do-An Robert Thomas has practiced Zen and lived at Zen Center for 17 years. He was ordained as a priest and received Dharma Transmission from Zoketsu Norman Fischer. In his six years as Zen Center President, Robert has focused his teaching on how Zen Buddhism can be extended into the activities of everyday life.
Samantha Ostergaard
Samantha Ostergaard is a Zen student and yoga teacher who has used yoga to support her zazen practice for many years. She lived and practiced at Tassajara for three years, receiving lay ordination from Zoketsu Norman Fischer in 2000. Her teaching of yoga is deeply influenced by Zen practice.
