KEEPING IT FRESH

Get out and enjoy some Paintball

As with any activity that is played on a regular basis, sometimes the sheen can come off paintball for those people who have been regular players for a good long period of time. Fortunately there are always some gimmicks that venues can employ in order to keep the game feeling fresh for even experienced and veteran paintball players.

Different scenarios can be employed to put a twist on the game, perhaps with basic ideas such as players engaging in military maneuvers, covert FBI or CIA or even police operations to get the imagination engaged and make the game feel fresh and new. One side could, after all, be the lawmakers while the other side is the criminals!

Other twists can include changing the “Capture the Flag” game (where each side has to capture the flag of the other team) to have only one flag instead of two, making each side solely either attackers of defenders. Other variations on the theme including a team having to hold onto said flag for a certain period of time.

Other ways include altering the makeup of each team. You could perhaps have a “Women Vs Men” game to capture some attention or even have a match where a team composed of seasoned players faces off against a group of complete newcomers. Changing the sizes of the team (how many players are allowed in each, in other words) is another option, as is cutting down on the number of shots players are allowed to fire from their paintball guns during the duration of the game.

Perhaps it is not the game itself but the location that needs some sprucing up or altering to reignite interest. Offering free advertising to local businesses could get them to donate bunkers (which can be made of anything from lumber to huge tires off of trucks to empty drums of oil) and the like. When you have lots of new bunkers, you can then switch them around on a regular basis to prevent experienced players becoming too blasé and used to the area where they are playing. Having lots of different kinds of bunkers also helps to appeal to players whose style of paintball playing may be very different from one another.

Keeping both the venue and the style of play varied and eclectic ensures that even the most experienced veteran players will be able to find something new in every game.
