Sausalito art galleries are one of the best tourist opportunities in the San Francisco area. The City of Sausalito rests at the north end of the famous Golden Gate Bridge, 1.7 miles across the bridge from congested San Francisco areas. Sausalito is about two-miles square; this small town holds hundreds of artists, galleries, displays and artisan-oriented shopping locations for residents and visitors to enjoy during all months of the year.

San Francisco visitors can arrive in the City of Sausalito to visit the art galleries in a number of ways. With the Golden Gate Bridge on the edge of town, it is possible to walk or peddle across the bridge as an alternative to driving. Ferry boat services also exist to transport people over the water of the bay and into the heart of Sausalito. Most people who choose to visit the City of Sausalito plan to see the town on a two-day adventure.

How to find Sausalito art galleries:

The City of Sausalito has art galleries clustered together in a 10-block region that branches along Bridgeway and Caledonia Street; however, there are also galleries tucked into the historic Princess shopping district and available on side streets that connect to Bridgeway, the main road that runs along the waterfront. Local hotels, restaurants and community buildings also hold cultural displays that all visitors are asked to enjoy.

Sausalito is a hillside community on terrain that gently flows downward into the San Francisco Bay. The majority of Sausalito art galleries are located nearby to the water, in the two-mile stretch of land that follows the contours of the waterfront. Residents and visitors enjoy walking or peddling between gallery exhibits so that they do not miss the impromptu arts and crafts displays that are placed outside of the community shops.

Due to the small size of Sausalito, and the large number of artist presentations, it is easy for visitors to find art displays. At times, parking spaces are at a premium whenever special events are planned within the small community. For this reason, most guests plan to wear comfortable walking shoes and carry a pack that can hold small purchases easily. Large vehicle parking is often found easily nearby to the bridge, and along the waterfront.

Favorite Sausalito art galleries include:
