The Sausalito ferry services are among the finest on the planet. These water taxis run on regular daytime schedules that link San Francisco and Sausalito for commuters. There are multiple ferry services for riders to choose from on the bay; however, most ferryboats do not operate after dark.

Basic Sausalito ferryboat information:

The City of Sausalito is located at the northern end of the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Each year, thousands of tourists enjoy visiting the colorful Sausalito weekend festivals, multiple art galleries and many types of specialty shops. On Labor Day weekend, there can be over 50,000 individuals who arrive in Sausalito to experience one of the largest art shows in America. The Sausalito ferry services are user-friendly for first time riders.

There is only one docking point for taxi-boats from all services in Sausalito. Visitors can board these San Francisco-bound ferryboats for a drop-off point near the famous Pier 39 or Pier 1, otherwise known as "The Ferry Building." On the San Francisco side of the bay, snacks, public busses, bicycle rentals and taxicab services are all readily available nearby to the two ferryboat docking locations.

People ride the water-oriented transportation systems with crated pets, packages, bicycles and other forms of gear. Riders are responsible for handling their own belongings; all belongings must stay off of seats, out of walkways and away from bothering other riders. Pets must remain inside of their carriers and owners must stay with their pets at all times. Cell phone use should be kept to a minimum to avoid annoying the other passengers.

Ferry tickets are purchased at the dock for about $10.00. Each water-taxi service sets the price of their tickets and discount plans. At times, it is possible for children, seniors and frequent riders to receive reduced-rate tickets or ferry-rider package deals. Each ferryboat holds hundreds of people; however, boats load on a first-come first on basis and it is not allowable to save seats for members of your party who are late. Ferry riders arrive early.
