New businesses in Sausalito must apply for business licenses within 30 calendar days from the first start date of business. Thereafter, business license renewal taxes and fees are due every January 1. If you do not obtain a business license within this 30 days of starting your business, a penalty charge will result. Please see Late Payments, below.
Step One: First time business license applicants must complete the Occupational Use Permit Application (PDF) and submit the application, with payment, to:

Step Two: When your Occupational Use Permit has been approved, go to the Business License Tax Form and find the link to the appropriate form(s) for your business. The business license tax forms are the same for both new and renewal businesses.
Payments may be made by VISA or MasterCard. To obtain credit card authorization, print and complete both sides of the Credit Card Authorization (PDF).
Step Three: Print and mail the business license tax forms, the Declaration of Information, and the credit card authorization form to:
