Keeping true to its personality of being one of the few remaining true communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sausalito goes to great lengths to support the local public library’s programs, events, and services to make it a truly integral and useful part of the community. With programs for small children, teens, and services and designated help sections for adults, the Sausalito Public Library has something to fit almost any need.

In a time in which library services in general have been cut in most municipalities, Sausalito’s Public Library id truly a standout that offers an astonishing number of services for such a small community.

MARINet Sharing Network

The Sausalito Public Library is a member of the MARINet network of libraries which consists of seven public libraries in Marin County and pools resources so that patrons may have access to publications, resources, and books. The computerized system lets residents search the catalogs of all seven county libraries and find the materials they need, reserve or place holds on the materials, pay late fees and fines, and more all from either the terminals located in the library itself or from their home computers.

Sausalito Library Events and Programs

The Sausalito Public Library also hosts a series of programs and events designed to engage and inspire all ages of patrons and offer community resources for employment, further education, and more.

Sausalito Library Speakers Series – A truly unique Speakers Series, the Sausalito Library sponsors this event series and brings in local artists, experts in a wide variety of fields, politicians, scientists, and more for their well known speakers events. Topics have included everything from world famous and local arts movements to natural phenomena like lightning in Yosemite National Park.

Children’s Programs – The Sausalito Public Library offers children their very own set of resources, a designated children’s area, a catalog, and help services, and maintains regular hours for homework help and parent/child help sessions. The library also offers regular story times for small children.

Teen Services – Called the Teen Zone, the library offers teenage patrons their own menu of services as well including help with homework, hotlines, classes, scholarship information, a separate teen-friendly book list, and much more.

General Adult Services – For their adult patrons, the Sausalito Public Library offers a broad array of help services ranging form computer help and classes to resume and job coaching workshops, business resources to language classes, and much more. The library also maintains a separate section specifically designated for Sausalito Boating needs with resources for boat owners in the area.

The Sausalito Public Library also has e-books available for patrons to check out, computer practice areas and tutorials, and free internet access for those who need it.

Matching the community spirit of Sausalito’s residents, the public library here is one of the last that truly embraces its role in the community and brings a comprehensive set of services to residents of all ages.
