Scenic Sausalito has enchanted visitors for decades in part because of the pride that the local residents take in their community and their neighborly care of one another. This sense of community extends to the school system in Sausalito as well, where students are given the finest in educational opportunities and challenges from some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s leading schools.
Served by the Sausalito Marin School District for the younger students (grades K-8) and the Tamalpais Union High School District and The Marin School for the youth students in the area, Sausalito’s student population has all the benefits that can be provided from a smaller community school environment with smaller class sizes and more involved teachers helping get the students ready to succeed in later life.
Both Bayside Elementary School and the area’s award winning charter school, Willow Creek Academy serve the younger students and do an incredible job with the small class sizes and in depth instruction that they are able to perform. These schools serve Sausalito and neighboring Marin City, and are truly the definition of community-minded schooling.
Middle school age children are served by the charter school Willow Creek Academy and by the extremely small Martin Luther King Jr. Academy (also known as MLK Academy). Both of these award winning schools are able to manage class size and teacher-student interaction for maximum effect in helping young learners.
The Tamalpais Union High School District maintains Tamalpais High School in Sausalito as well as several high schools in neighboring communities in the North Bay Area. High school students are able to enjoy the benefits of life in a small city without having to travel to get to their high school classrooms. Also based in Sausalito is the renowned Marin School which is a private high school with extremely high academic standards and a reputation known throughout the Bay Area.
There are also two alternative and continuation high schools available for Sausalito students who may have difficulty in large high school settings. Both Tamiscal and San Andreas Alternative High Schools offer programs to help students achieve a high school diploma.
