Sausalito Vacation Activities Can Form Long-Term Memories

The City of Sausalito is nestled at the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge, a short distance away from the colorful tourist sections of downtown San Francisco. This artisan community is reminiscent of the exciting French Riviera and well known as a rich and famous playground for the actors and performers who are on tour near San Francisco. Sausalito is filled with quality restaurants, boutique-lodgings and many types of colorful sights that are not always found in other sunny California coastal settings.

Unique Sausalito vacation activities can form long-term memories.

From San Francisco, it is easy to gaze across the bay into the small town Sausalito neighborhoods. The City of Sausalito is about two-miles away from San Francisco aboard the local public-access ferryboats, and about five-miles away on roads. All Sausalito vacations start with the economical choices of floating, peddling or driving across the beautiful waters that embrace the San Francisco waterfront communities.

In Sausalito, it is possible to procure lodging in resort-quality hotels or in alternative overnight not-hotel rooms aboard houseboats or yachts. Sausalito accommodations come with historic backgrounds, stunning waterfront views and in price ranges that can suit all large or small vacation budgets. The interesting town of Sausalito is about two-miles square; Sausalito visitors often choose to walk between the many fun-filled attractions.

The Discovery Museum for Children is located near the end of the Golden Gate Bridge; there is a unique Papery Shop nearby, and the historic Yacht Club is within eyesight. Towards the Yacht Club, along the waterfront road, it is possible to stop at the 1.5-acre working replica of the San Francisco Bay. Between these larger attractions, it is easy to find interesting art displays, sidewalk snack shops and water-oriented equipment rentals.

A Sausalito Wooden Boat Tour jaunt is fun for all members of the family. Groups of participants can tour luxury houseboats, WWII ship building facilities or participate in a sponsored treasure hunt that teaches many things about nautical lifestyles. On the other hand, an intimate Golden Gate Opera outing can be planned for people of all ages who love stage-oriented musical shows. Sausalito offers extremes in quality entertainments.

Wine tasting, art galleries and elegant spa treatments are all available at the northern end of the scenic Golden Gate Bridge. Sausalito has two distinct tourist sections, and many sub-parts to explore. The Princess section of Sausalito is packed with small interesting shops, art galleries and cultural oddities; no trip to Sausalito is complete without planned hours spent in browsing through the Princess-area shops, eateries and artisan displays.

The City of Sausalito often hosts fireworks, boat parades and community festivals to celebrate holiday weekends. Local art galleries invite guest speakers, contract for upper-quality displays and work together to provide community-oriented extravaganzas. There are parks for picnics, sailboats for cruising and hilltop views for photography lovers. In all sections of Sausalito, care has been taken to provide beautiful backdrops and settings.

Since Sausalito is a true artisan community, there are pleasant surprises at every turn. The fun-filled elephant seals live at the Sausalito Marine Mammal Center and kayaking is a popular pastime in the bay. During the month of September, Sausalito sponsors an upper-quality art festival that draws over 50,000 visitors into this tiny two-mile wide location. It is always wise to book lodgings well in advance for all Sausalito special event weekends.
